One of the main reasons for the ageing process of the face is the sagging of tissue and skin as well as a loss of volume. Therefore, during a facelift or combined face and neck lift, the facial and neck skin as well as the deeper structures are returned to their original position. The aim is to achieve a natural rejuvenation of the face. The face lift can be performed alone or in combination with other procedures such as an eyelid lift.
In order to achieve long-term results, we do not perform mini, mid or fringe lifts, in which only the skin and superficial structures are tightened.
There are different types of facelift. In the so-called SMAS facelift, the skin and a layer of connective tissue in the subcutaneous fatty tissue, known as the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS), are repositioned or resected. The excess skin can then be removed without tension to restore the natural contours of the face.
In a deep plane facelift, the deeper structures are dissected and the skin and SMAS are lifted and tightened as a coherent unit. During a detailed consultation, the plastic surgeon will evaluate the appropriate surgical procedure with you and explain the steps before, during and after the operation in detail. Regardless of the surgical method, the incision for a facelift is made in front of the ear and, if necessary, behind the ear up to the hairline.
