Surgical removal of malignant skin tumors

Surgical removal is the treatment of choice for most malignant skin tumors. The operations are performed in our certified operating theater under local anesthesia. On the day of the operation, you can eat normally and take your usual medication. Blood thinners (such as Aspirin, Marcoumar or Xarelto) do not have to be discontinued.

In the case of larger skin tumors, skin may have to be moved (so-called flap surgery) or skin may have to be transplanted from another part of the body. Before each procedure, your dermatology specialist will inform you about the procedure you require and the necessary pre- and post-operative measures. It is important for us to achieve an optimal cosmetic result. Scar care is also very important for this. You will be instructed on this during suture removal.

The most common malignant skin tumors include

  • Basal cell carcinomas (form of white skin cancer)
  • Spinocellular carcinomas (form of white skin cancer)
  • Melanoma (black skin cancer)
