Over time, facial expressions such as frowning, smiling, or squinting leave visible marks in the form of wrinkles. These so-called mimic wrinkles arise from the repeated activity of certain facial muscles. Particularly affected are the forehead region, the area between the eyebrows ("frown line"), and the eye area ("crow's feet").
By targeted injections with a muscle-relaxing medication, muscle activity in these areas can be temporarily reduced. The overlying skin can relax, which can soften wrinkles and make the appearance smoother and more refreshed. The goal of the treatment is not a complete muscle blockade, but a natural, fresh facial expression—without restricting facial expressions.
The treatment is performed on an outpatient basis in the practice. After a thorough medical consultation and assessment, the active ingredient is injected into the corresponding muscle areas with a fine needle. The treatment is generally well tolerated. Initial effects are usually visible after a few days, with the maximum result visible after about 10–14 days. The effect typically lasts 3 to 6 months and can be repeated if necessary.
The active ingredient used is subject to medical prescription. Therefore, a personal medical consultation is required before the treatment, during which suitability and possible risks are individually discussed.
Important: The wrinkle treatment with muscle-relaxing injections does not replace comprehensive skin care or volume-enhancing treatments. Depending on the skin condition, a combination with other procedures may be advisable—we are happy to provide you with individual advice on this.
