Upper arm lift in Zurich
The upper arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure in which excess skin and fatty tissue are removed from the upper arms to achieve a firmer and slimmer contour. The cause of the so-called “angled arms” is usually weight loss, ageing but also genetic predisposition..
The upper arm lift is performed under general anaesthesia. The surgeon makes an incision on the inside of the upper arm, which normally runs from the armpit to the elbow. The excess skin is removed through this incision. Usually the upper arms are reduced in volume during the same operation by liposuction so that the subsequent skin removal can be done more easily. The operation usually takes about 2 hours, depending on your individual starting point.
As with any surgical procedure, there are some risks and possible complications associated with an upper arm lift. These may include temporary swelling, bruising, infection, irregular scarring, asymmetry, remaining excess skin or temporary numbness. It is important that you have a thorough and individual consultation with the surgeon before surgery and that all your questions are clarified.
After the operation, you should take it easy for a few days and follow your surgeon’s instructions to support the healing process and achieve an optimal result.
