Psoriasis is one of the most common inflammatory skin diseases. It is characterized by reddened and scaly spots on the body (especially elbows and knees) and scalp, as well as nail changes. In addition to skin and nails, psoriasis can also affect the joints (psoriatic arthritis). Joint involvement usually leads to painful, sometimes permanent changes in small and large joints and in the spinal column. The early diagnosis of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis is extremely important for the treatment and thus the course of this chronic disease.
